Degreasing

Natural fat has to be removed or dispersed in hides and skins in order to achieve the desired properties in the final leathers.
Lipases such as Hostazyme ADL act by hydrolyzing the natural fat, thereby forming FFA, monoglycerides and diglycerides. The fat is thus converted into an emulsifying system, which is easier to disperse and/or remove.
