Acid Bating
For as long as leather has been produced, enzymes have played an important role in the bating process. Over the years enzyme-containing beating products from rather unsophisticated formulations(based on animal pancreas extract) have developed to Highly elaborate biotech-based solutions.
It is a well established fact that bating enzymes are used to loosen scud and deswell the pelts. However the real job of bating enzyme is to remove Unwanted proteins or non-collagenous protein. These proteins if left unattended in the pelts can lead to numerous problems. But because no leather is made without a bating process, tanners reap the benefits with or without the knowledge of the above information.
What is an acid bate?
If for some reason pelts are left under bated tanneries have started using acid bates to cover it up. However, this is only one of the benefit of using acid bates. As it is established that acid bates work in acid mediums it is kind of revolutionary because bates were thought to work in alkaline pH. Before acid bates, once pelts are in the pickle stage tanners had no option to remove the non-collagenous proteins. With acid bates the tanners can have advantages in unique ways.
For example acid bates are being used in wetback, during chrome tanning etc.
The benefits using our acid bates include:
– Inreased tear strength
– Better absorption of chmicals
– Improved area yield
– Improved softness
The acid bating solutions wok best in upholstery, garments and gloving.
